BY WU LEIFEN

Human rights training course for state functionaries from 11-14 December, 2007

A training class on human rights knowledge for state functionaries was held in Beijing from December 11-14, 2007. More than 40 officials responsible for the publicity work on human rights from the central and state organs and the central press organizations attended.

Organized by the State Council Information Office, this was the fourth of its kind held so far.

Ye Xiaowen, head of the State Administration for Religious Affairs and Wan E' xiang, deputy president of the Supreme People's Court, lectured on how to display the positive roles of religions and on the theories and practice of human rights protection in the enforcement of law. Some experts and scholars lectured on such topics as "comparison in the human rights concepts between China and the Western World".
