Top advisor urges HK political advisors to contribute more

BEIJING, July 9 , 2007 -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Monday called on Hong Kong delegates to the country's top advisory body to continue to promote exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remark when he met more than 100 CPPCC members based in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Jia acknowledged the members' role in Hong Kong's smooth return to China and its prosperity and stability over the past ten years.

He asked CPPCC members based in Hong Kong to uphold the "one country, two systems" principle and the Basic Law, and to contribute more to the prosperity and peaceful reunification of the motherland.
