BEIJING, July 16, 2008-- Beijing will use remote video monitoring to check food hygiene and air quality at Olympic venues.

Yu Luming, deputy head of the Beijing Health Bureau, said here on Wednesday that three remote viewing systems, costing 20 million yuan, will monitor 30 food processing spots.

The bureau will also monitor water quality in the pump houses at the athletes village and media village, he said, and has 192 stations to monitor air quality at designated hotels and Olympic venues, Yu said.
