China sizes launching national public health campaign
 
 

BEIJING, April 14, 2009-- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang Tuesday emphasized the importance of launching a national public health campaign and building a sound and convenient public health service system in rural and urban areas, for the improvement of the health level of the whole nation.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, also called for related departments to intensify disease prevention and control, especially for the disease epidemics that usually occur in springtime, such as the hand, foot and mouth disease.

He said the government should strengthen the epidemic monitoring work in villages, schools and construction sites, targeting on the poor, the children and the floating population.

He added epidemic diseases should be found early, and be treated and controlled immediately.
