To be launched in advance of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, "Heroes" is part of the IOC's 2007/8 promotional campaign to communicate the key Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect to a global youth audience. Transcending cultures and borders, the theme of "The Best of Us" motivates young people around the world to participate in sports by proving that sports can bring out the best in them.
The campaign also stars Ethiopian distance runners Kenenisa Bekele and Haile Gebrselelassie, Italian gymnast Vanessa Ferrari and Swedish heptathlete Carolina Kluft who all seek "to achieve the seemingly impossible," as the IOC puts it. |
