Vice President satisfied with Olympic preparations

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has spoken highly of Beijing's final Olympic preparations on security checks, media service and doping tests. He made the remarks after an inspection tour on Monday.

Xi Jinping started his inspection with a visit to one of the headquarters in charge of Olympic security work.

He was pleased to learn that the latest technology is being used to help with security checks, and stressed the importance of hosting a safe Olympics.

The vice president then went to a media village, where registered media workers from home and abroad are staying. He also went to the International Broadcast Center and the Main Press Center to talk with journalists, staff and volunteers.

He encouraged them to work hard to provide excellent media service for the Games.

Xi Jinping's tour ended with an inspection of the Olympic Anti-doping Laboratory, which will conduct 4500 tests during the Olympics and Paralympics. Xi Jinping said doping testing is crucial to ensuring fair competition.
