BEIJING, December 25, 2007 -- Volunteer recruitment is progressing smoothly for the Qingdao division of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In the selection of volunteers, besides looking for all-around quality, the selection committee stresses that volunteers must not be prone to seasickness.
According to the deputy secretary and the spokesperson of the Olympic sailing committee, Li Fengli, Qingdao has a good tradition of volunteerism. The volunteers in the volunteer association have reached more than 300,000 people.
The volunteers recruited for the Olympic Games need professional training and knowledge, in addition to enthusiasm and basic skills. What's more important, applicants must pass a test for seasickness.
Through the past two years' pre-games events, the Qingdao sailing committee has accumulated good experience, and many professional, capable and hard-working volunteers, including many overseas students, have been selected and maintained for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Li Fengli said, "We are confident that during the Olympic Games next year, the volunteers will be a beautiful part of the scenery in Qingdao." |
