Respecting and safeguarding human rights is a major achievement of an advanced human society and an important symbol of a modern civilized society. It is not only a mutual pursuit of the world people, a common principle for world leaders governing their countries, but also a great objective pursued of the Chinese government and its people. Since the founding of the People¡¯s Republic of China, Chinese people never give up the pursuit in their efforts of more than half a century and China¡¯s human rights cause has achieved historical progress. The purpose of this exhibition is to promote the scientific view of development by putting people first and the stated in the Constitutional Law: The State respects and safeguards human rights.

China Human Rights Exhibition opens in Beijing today. It is the first ever large-scale exhibition held on human rights in China.

China Human Rights Exhibition is to be held from Nov. 17 to 26 in the Cultural Palace of the Nationalities. It is the first ever large-scale exhibition held on human rights since the founding of the People's Republic of China. This exhibition is jointly held by the Information Office of State Council, the China Society for Human Rights Studies and the China Human Rights Development Foundation.

The purpose of this exhibition is to promote the scientific view of development by putting people first and the stated in the Constitutional Law: The State respects and safeguards human rights; to exhibit China¡¯s practice and developments on human rights undertakings, to enhance the human rights awareness of the public and officials, to further the harmonious development of the society, and an overall development of human rights cause in China.
