Respecting and safeguarding human rights is a major achievement of an advanced human society and an important symbol of a modern civilized society. It is not only a mutual pursuit of the world people, a common principle for world leaders governing their countries, but also a great objective pursued of the Chinese government and its people. Since the founding of the People¡¯s Republic of China, Chinese people never give up the pursuit in their efforts of more than half a century and China¡¯s human rights cause has achieved historical progress. The purpose of this exhibition is to promote the scientific view of development by putting people first and the stated in the Constitutional Law: The State respects and safeguards human rights.

He Luli, vice chairwoman of the NPC Standing Committee, Luo Haocai, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, are attending the opening ceremony and made the ribbon-cutting  for China Human Rights Exhibition.

 

 

On November 17, 2006£¬China Human Rights Exhibition, jointly sponsored by the Information Office of the State Council, China Society for Human Rights Studies, and China Foundation for Human Rights Development, has made its grand opening in the Cultural Palace of the Nationalities, Beijing.

He Luli, vice chairwoman of the NPC Standing Committee, Luo Haocai, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the opening ceremony and made the ribbon-cutting  for China Human Rights Exhibition.

Concerned leaders from the Publicity Department and the International Liaison Department of the CCCPC, the Commission of Legislative Affairs of the NPC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Justice, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission etc, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Cai Wu, director of the Information Office of the State Council, made an address at the opening ceremony. He said:" 'China Human Rights Exhibition' is the first large-scale comprehensive exhibition on the theme of human rights we ever organized. The exhibition fully displays Chinese people's struggle course for the realization of human rights. It fully demonstrates that China's human rights cause has made tremendous progress since the founding of New China 57 years ago, especially since the beginning of reform and opening up. It also shows that the new central leading group headed by general secretary Hu Jintao is sticking to the people-oriented scientific development concept, and the new proposition of striving to build a harmonious society and a harmonious world.

He said: ¡°I believe that through this exhibition, all of us will have a more comprehensive and objective understanding on human rights situation in China and a clearer knowledge to the way of human rights development with Chinese characteristics, and be more confident on Chinese people to promote and achieve  greater development in the human rights cause on the process of building a socialist harmonious society.¡±
