KINSHASA, Dec. 15, 2014 -- At least 126 people died and 221 people were rescued after a boat capsized on Lake Tanganyika on Thursday in the southern Katagna province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), a local radio station reported Sunday.

The accident occurred on Thursday night on Lake Tanganyika between the cities of Moba and Kalemie because of overloading and strong winds, said the radio report, quoting an unidentified official source.

On March 22, more than 200 people perished after a boat transporting refugees capsized on Lake Albert, situated at the border of the DR Congo and Uganda.
