National Federation of Trade Unions published the document about further strengthening democratic management during the reorganization, restructuring, closure and bankruptcy of enterprise. The main three points it emphasized are to promote open, transparent and democratic management, to uphold and improve the systems of Workers' Congress and to effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers.

The government of Shenzhen city in southern China decided to donate 1,000 prefabricated houses, which will arrive to Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan on Aug. 17, 2009.

Meanwhile, mainland Red Cross organizations, leagues of banks, Buddhist associations and large companies have allocated thousands of millions of yuan to help relieve the disaster, official said.

Member companies of the mainland-based Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) donated more than 100 million yuan (14.6 million U.S. dollars) and 5 million HK dollars (645,000 U.S. dollars).
