China officially concluded the reparation of the Potala Palace and Norbu Lingka, or the former winter and summer palaces of the Dalai Lamas.

The Chinese government has spent nearly 300 million yuan (43.9 million U.S. dollars) in the two projects, along with another 94.74 million yuan in the reparation of the Sagya Monastery, which is known for housing numerous classical books on Buddhism and precious paintings.

Construction of Wenchuan No. 1 primary school, Wenchuan No. 2 primary school and Wenchuan No. 1 kindergarten has been completed. Thousands of children from quake-hit area return to school. All of the three are earthquake-resistant buildings.

Second plenary meeting of the third national council of China Society for Human Rights Studies was held in Beijing. Hundreds of representatives participated the meeting. During the meeting, Mr. Luo Haocai, chairman of China Society for Human Rights Studies and vice-chairman of the National Committee of the 10th CPPCC, and Mr. Wang Chen, minister of the State Council Information Office, delivered speeches respectively.
