Sept.30,2016--Highlighting ethnic minorities’ rights protection, the 2016 China-Europe Seminar on Human Rights was held in Chongqing Wednesday. More than 50 experts from China, Germany, Holland, the United Kingdom, Norway, France and other countries exchanged views on ethnic languages, culture, religion, economy and environmental protection, etc.
Chang Jian, executive deputy director of the Human Rights Center at Nankai University in Tianjin, said while protecting political rights and promoting equality, China has done more to support economic growth in regions inhabited by ethnic minorities.
Liu Hainian, advisor to China Society for Human Rights Studies, lauded the bilingual education in China's ethnic minority regions. "This not only helps promote exchanges between different nationalities, but also helps preserve the language and culture of ethnic minorities," said Liu.
