Nov.8,2017--“China will continue to play its role as a major participant, contributor and pioneer in promoting global ecological progress,” said Xie Zhenhua, China's special representative on climate change,at a press conference on Oct.31.
Xie said China has reduced carbon dioxide emission by 4.1 billion tons for recent 10 years and has made progress both in climate change mitigation and economic development.
Li Gao, head of the climate department under the National Development and Reform Commission, said:” After years’ efforts, China is expected to overfulfil its goal of carbon dioxide emission cut in 2020, which will lay a solid foundation for the country to achieve the goal of 2030.
China will launch the carbon emissions trading market this year. “We are confident to complete the construction of the market and give full play to its role in cutting greenhouse gas emission,” said Li.
