May 27,2017   By:chinahumanrights.org
May 27, 2017 -- Chinese Permanent Representative to the UN Liu Jieyi on Thursday called for the prevention and settlement of conflicts to root out the threats to civilians, medical personnel and facilities at a UN meeting.

China will fully support the international community in its efforts to protect civilians, medical personnel and facilities, said Liu.

Liu noted that all countries should build a sense of community of shared future for mankind and work together to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. To free civilians from wars, the UN should urge the countries concerned to solve conflicts through peaceful talks.

The governments and parties concerned should take main responsibilities for protecting civilians, said Liu.

Liu also called for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries concerned in humanitarian rescue missions.
