China to achieve “zero poverty” goal: UNDP official

Nov.9,2017--Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has made great achievements in poverty alleviation. More than 60 million people have been lifted out of poverty and poverty occurence has declined from 10.2 percent to less than 4 percent.
Veres, Country Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), said over the past 30 years China’s economy has witnessed rapid growth and China has made great contribution to poverty reduction both home and abroad. From 2013 to 2016, more than 10 million rural residents shook off poverty each year. China is on the way towards a “zero poverty” country.
