September 14, 2017 -- The seminar on “The Philosophy and Practice of Right to Peace in China”, co-sponsored by China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) and the Publicity Department of Jiangsu Province and organized by the Party School of Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) and Nanjing University, was held on Monday in Nanjing University.
“A series of thoughts about the peaceful development of China proposed by President Xi Jinping are of great importance for studying the philosophy of the right to peace in modern China,” said Cui Yuying, who is deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, vice minister of the State Council Information Office and also vice president of the CSHRS.
"Holding the banner of ‘peace, development, cooperation and win-win’, China has always been committed to the road of peaceful development to protect global peace and promote common development," she added.
Cui urged that human rights researchers should better understand the importance of the right to peace and turn the peace resources in China into discourse advantages to build a Chinese discourse system of right to peace.
“Peace and development is the eternal theme of mankind and the common ground for global governance. We will strive to build a Chinese discourse system for peace studies to boost the global influence of China’s ideas and practices of peace,” said Chen Jun, principal of Nanjing University and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Li Junru, vice-president of the CSHRS, said the respect and protection of right to peace is an important prerequisite for building a community of shared future for mankind.
Nearly 50 experts and scholars shared their thoughts about the right to peace in China. They called for the international society to realize and protect the right to peace for all people.
