WHO commends China for achievements on public health

July 7, 2017 -- World Health Organization (WHO) commended China on Wednesday for the remarkable achievements on public health made in Patriotic Public Health Campaign initiated 65 years ago.

The Patriotic Public Health Campaign was initiated by Chinese government in 1952. For the 65 years, the campaign has contributed to solving major public health problems in different periods.

“Patriotic Public Health Campaign is a great innovation and successful practice. It has achieved considerable accomplishments that are globally recognized, providing protection for people’s health and making significant contributions to economic and social development. China will continue to work with the WHO and play an active role in global public health governance,” said Li Bin, minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and deputy-director of the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee.
