July 28,2017--El Ghassim Wane, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Affairs, gave a big thumbs-up to the Chinese peacekeepers in an exclusive interview by the CCTV.

Since the participation into the UN peacekeeping operations in 1990, China has been winning the praises from the international community.

Wane said China has sent the most peacekeepers and pumped the second largest fund into the UN peacekeeping missions among all the permanent members of the Security Council, making great contributions to the UN peacekeeping cause.

I saw by myself Chinese peacekeepers’ excellent operations under high risks in the war-torn districts, which sets a good example for the peacekeepers from other countries, he added.

So far, 13 Chinese peacekeepers have sacrificed their lives for the cause of UN peacekeeping, said Wane.

On the eve of the forthcoming 90th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China, Wane also expressed his good wishes to all the Chinese soldiers in the UN peacekeeping missions.
