Saudi villagers abandon homes to flee violence
August 02,2017   By:Xinhua
RIYADH, Aug.2,2017-- Many families in the eastern Awamiyah village of Saudi Arabia have abandoned their homes because of violence, local newspaper Al Hayat reported on Tuesday.

Falah Al Khalidi, the governor of the Qatif region where Awamiyah is situated, confirmed to the newspaper that the residents there have left home on their own after the recent rise in terrorist attacks, and the government has settled them down in temporary accommodations.

The area has been witnessing escalation in violence since May when the demolition of old houses used as hideouts by terrorists began.

Attacks to prevent demolition have so far left seven policemen and three civilians killed, and 30 others injured.
