U.S.-led coalition strikes against IS kill over 800 civilians since 2014: report
December 01,2017   By:Xinhua
BAGHDAD,Dec.1,2017-- At least 801 civilians were killed during the U.S.-led coalition operations targeted on Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq and Syria in the past three years, the coalition forces said in a monthly report on Thursday.

The Civilian Casualty Report said that all these civilians were killed "unintentionally" by Coalition strikes since the start of Operation Inherent Resolve and the coalition is still assessing another 695 reports on civilian casualties.

The Coalition conducted more than 28,000 strikes between August 2014 and October 2017, and Coalition partners have returned more than 96% of IS-held land to local populations and governance, said the report.

Yet despite significant successes against IS, combat has taken a toll on populations suffering under the militant extremists, added the coalition report.

U.S.-led international coalition against IS includes US military forces and personnel from over 30 countries.
