China and Germany Hold the 15th Human Rights Dialogue

Dec. 12, 2018 -- From December 6 to 8, 2018, the 15th China-Germany Human Rights Dialogue was held in Lhasa, Xi Zang. Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Foreign Ministry Li Junhua co-chaired the dialogue with Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid B?rbel Kofler of Germany. The Supreme People's Court of China, the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Public Security of China, the Ministry of Justice of China, Xi Zang Autonomous Region as well as the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the German Embassy in China and other departments assigned representatives to attend the dialogue.

Both sides discussed assessment of China-Germany Human Rights Dialogue, concepts of human rights and new progress in the field of human rights, international cooperation in human rights and other topics. The German delegation also visited religious venues, farmers' families and bilingual schools in Lhasa, and the reformatory for juvenile delinquents in Beijing. The Chinese side comprehensively expounded on the China's human rights concepts, measures and achievements, and asked the German side to take an objective view on the progress of China's human rights cause, respect the human rights development path independently chosen by the Chinese people, and resolve disputes in human rights with the Chinese side on the basis of equality and mutual respect. Both sides believed that it was a candid, comprehensive and in-depth dialogue and it enhanced mutual understanding.
