April 8,2018--The white paper, titled "China's Policies and Practices on Protecting Freedom of Religious Belief," was released by China's State Council Information Office on April 3.
During the press conference, former deputy chief of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, Chen Zongrong, elaborated on the distinctive features of the revised Regulations on Religious Affairs.
The revision aims to better promote religious harmony, safeguard national security, and maintain social stability and ethnic unity.
The revised regulations explicitly stipulate rights and duties of governments in the management of religious affairs.
Besides, governments at all levels should provide religious groups with public services and places for religious activities to guarantee their religious freedom.
