Foreign journalists from over 20 countries visit Xinjiang

April 25, 2019 -- The event "Entering the Core Areas of the Silk Road Economic Belt" organized by the State Council Information Office of China kicked off on Monday in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
 
More than 30 journalists from over 20 countries including United States, Belgium, Turkey, Russia, kazakhstan visited Xinjiang to see for themselves the achievements of the region's social and economic development. 
 
As an important hub of the Eurasian Continental Bridge and a gateway on the ancient silk road, Xinjiang is building itself into a regional transportation hub, a trade and logistics center, a financial service center, a culture, science and education center and a medical service center. The region will comprehensively deepen exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt, according to Alken Tuniyazi, vice chairman of Xinjiang.
