May 6,2019-- At least 18 Taliban militants were killed and 25 injured in airstrikes launched by NATO-led coalition forces in western Afghan province of Farah on Sunday, provincial police spokesman said.

"The coalition forces conducted precise airstrikes against Taliban positions in Bagwa district Sunday morning. The sorties were launched based on confirmed tip-off provided by provincial police and Afghan intelligence agency officials," Muhibullah Muhib told Xinhua.

The strikes also destroyed 53 heroin and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) factories in the province, 695 km west of the country's capital, Kabul.

There were no casualties on the security forces and civilian sides during the raids.

The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more than 17 years, has not made a comment yet.
