Abstract: Since China's reform and opening up, the improvement of people's living standards and quality of life brought about by poverty reduction has become the best proof on the development of China's human rights situation. For China, poverty reduction has become the most important national narrative theme from the perspective of human rights. When reporting on China's poverty reduction issues, the American media confused China's voice by setting up a narrative framework of "China's poverty reduction means violation of human rights" and using its hegemonic power of discourse formed in the global public opinion field. To some extent, it challenges China's narrative efforts in international human rights discourse. According to the reports on China's poverty reduction issues by the American media, there are still great differences between China and the United States in terms of the recognition of poverty reduction goals, the recognition of poverty reduction effectiveness and the recognition of the significance of poverty reduction. American media have serious prejudice against poverty reduction in China. The concept of human rights has been widely supported by countries all over the world. In fact, China and the United States have huge common interests in the field of human rights. Understanding the conceptual consensus between China and the United States on human rights is conducive to promoting the overall development of human rights in the world.
