China slams Washington's genocide claim as the 'biggest lie of the century'
July 14,2021   By:CGTN
July 14, 2021 -- China said on Tuesday that the Biden administration's report renewing genocide allegations against China in Xinjiang is the "biggest lie of the century."

The U.S. report, which claimed that President Joe Biden's government will safeguard human rights all around the world, is "absurd and laughable," Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, said in a regular press briefing.

Zhao made the remarks in response to the U.S. State Department's annual report on genocide and atrocities prevention released on Monday.

Noting there is solid evidence of numerous human rights violations by the U.S., Zhao said the State Department report is based on absurd logic, describing the document as "a piece of scrap paper."

Zhao stressed the label of "genocide" is more suitable for the U.S. listing the facts including the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, the slaughter of Native Americans during the Westward Expansion and the death of African Americans like George Floyd.

He also pointed out that the U.S. side has disregarded human rights, allowing more than 600,000 lives to be taken in pandemic, allowing minorities to live in fear of racial hate crimes, leaving refugees and immigrants in miserable conditions, as well as subjecting millions of children to suffer from abuse, poverty and forced labor.

The U.S. has also been unlawfully killing and abusing civilians in other countries in overseas military operations for years with overwhelming evidence, Zhao added.

The spokesperson also said U.S. political attempt to contain China by using Xinjiang issue has been obvious to everyone and is doomed to fail.

He urged the U.S. to put more effort into effectively addressing its own human rights issues.
