Chinese diplomat criticizes human rights violations against indigenous women and girls in Canada
July 08,2021   By:Xinhua
July 8, 2021 -- A senior Chinese diplomat urged Canada on Tuesday to combat persistent racial discrimination and hate crimes against African and Asian descendants, especially against women and girls.

In a statement delivered Tuesday to the ongoing 47th session of the UN Human Rights Council, Jiang Duan, minister of the Chinese mission to the United Nations in Geneva, said Canada has imposed forced sterilization on many indigenous women and girls and that it should carry out a comprehensive and impartial investigation on these cases, to hold those responsible to account.

The recent discoveries of unmarked graves at former residential schools in Canada are only the tip of the iceberg of its blatant encroachment on the human rights of the indigenous people, which actually is a common practice shared by Western colonists in grabbing lands and resources.
