President of China Watch
Rui Lourido, historian and academic, graduated from the NOVA University Lisbon.
He has been working in the Lisbon City Government since 1996, President of “China Watch” since 2007, Coordinator of Cultural Affairs of the Union of Capital Cities of Portuguese-Speaking Countries since 2008, Advisor of the China Center for Lusophone Studies and Institute of Regional and International Studies at the University of International Business and Economics of China since 2012, and Advisor of the International Confucian Academy since 2014.
He has taught history courses at universities in Brazil and the United States, and has given public courses or lectures on the history of Macao and Asia at several Chinese universities, including the University of Macao and Macao Polytechnic University. He has participated in the project “The Road of Dialogue: A Study of the Silk Road in Its Entirety” under the framework of UNESCO. He has assisted the Chinese Embassy in Portugal and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in organizing the “One Belt, One Road” photo exhibition and the “Guangzhou-Portugal: The Maritime Silk Road” exhibition.
