Danilo Turk was graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1975. He is a world renowned senior politician, diplomat, jurist, and international governance expert. In 1992, he became Slovenia's first ambassador to the United Nations, and worked as the United Nations Security Council Chairman twice. He served as UN assistant secretary-general in 2000. On November 11, 2007, he was elected president of the Republic of Slovenia. On December 22, 2012, he stepped down. On June 16, 2015, he was invited to become a non-resident senior fellow of Chongyang institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY). In 2016, he participated in the election of the Secretary General of the United Nations. On October 20, 2019, Danilo Türk was elected President of the World Leadership Alliance - Club de Madrid, with his three year term starting on January 1, 2020.
