Providence Umurungi

Providence Umurungi is a Principal State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice of Rwanda, where she is the Head of International Justice and Judicial Cooperation Department since 2016. She holds a Masters Degree (LL.M) in International Public Law, obtained from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Canada, in 2005. Prior to that, after earning her bachelor law degree from the National University of Rwanda in 1998, she worked as Assistant Lecturer at the Law Faculty of the same University where she taught Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law courses. In 2007, she worked at UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania as Associate Legal Officer. Currently, her fields of interests are international criminal justice, judicial cooperation in criminal matters and Human Rights.
