Diplomats from 30 Islamic countries visit Xinjiang
 
Envoys from 30 Islamic countries visited Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region from Aug 1 to 5 at the invitation of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
The diplomats from countries including Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen and Pakistan visited the regional capital city of Urumqi, Kashgar prefecture and Aksu prefecture, learning about the region's economic and social development.

Spokesperson denounces Pelosi's meeting with so-called human rights activists
 
The meeting between Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and so-called human rights activists is just another farce, said a Chinese mainland spokesperson on Aug. 3.
 
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks in response to a media inquiry on Pelosi's visit to a human rights-themed venue in China's Taiwan region and her meeting with so-called "human rights and democracy activists".

Chinese NGO reveals U.S. violation of human rights
 
The China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) released a report on Aug. 9, revealing a series of crimes committed by the United States in the Middle East and surrounding areas that seriously violated international law.
 
Titled U.S. Commits Serious Crimes of Violating Human Rights in the Middle East and Beyond, the CSHRS report focused on Washington's systematic violations of human rights, including launching wars, massacring civilians, and damaging the right to life and survival; forced transformation, unilateral sanctions, severe infringement of people's rights to development, life and health; creating "clash of civilizations" and abusing imprisonment and torture, and violating freedom of religion and human dignity.

More water projects lead to jobs, stable economy
 
Increased endeavors by the Ministry of Water Resources to promote the development of water conservancy have helped to stabilize the national economy and boost employment during the first seven months of this year, Vice-Minister of Water Resources Liu Weiping said on Aug. 10.
 
Between January and July, 567.5 billion yuan ($84 billion) was invested in water conservancy projects, a 71.4 percent increase on last year, Liu told a news conference, adding that the investment "has contributed significantly to stabilizing investment and boosting employment".
 
Over 1.6 million people were employed in the construction of these projects, including over 1.2 million migrant workers from rural China.

Chinese medical team provides free health care services in rural Cameroon
 
A Chinese medical team in Cameroon on Aug. 20 provided free medical services to the people of Ngat-Bane, a village in the Centre region where the capital, Yaounde is located.
 
Early in the morning, more than one hundred villagers gathered in the Health Center of Ngat-Bane to welcome 12 doctors from various departments of ultrasound, stomatology, acupuncture, etc. of the Chinese medical team based in Mbalmayo, a town located about 40 km on the outskirts of Yaounde.

Cultural exchange efforts of past 10 years bear fruit
 
China has vowed to further bolster international cooperation in cultural sectors to broaden horizons.
 
Rao Quan, vice-minister of culture and tourism, said at a news conference in Beijing on Aug. 24 that China has signed intergovernmental agreements concerning culture and tourism with 157 countries, and has set up overseas cultural and tourism institutions in 93 countries. The news conference was held by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

Wang Yang, China's top political advisor, on Aug. 24 called for efforts to implement the country's employment-first policy.
 
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, made the statement in his speech at the closing meeting of the 23rd session of the Standing Committee of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

China allocates 10 bln yuan in subsidies to grain farmers
 
China will provide grain planters with subsidies totaling 10 billion yuan (about 1.46 billion U.S. dollars) from its central government budget, the Ministry of Finance said on Aug. 29.
 
The move aims to protect grain planters from the rising prices of farming supplies and further stimulate their enthusiasm for grain planting, the ministry said.

Some 70 journalists of Chinese and foreign media outlets from a dozen of countries and regions, joined by several Chinese scholars, attended a press salon on Aug. 29 to discuss human rights violations in the Middle East by the United States.
 
The press salon was hosted by the All-China Journalists Association, following a recently released China Society for Human Rights Studies report, which reveals a series of crimes committed by the United States in the Middle East and surrounding areas that seriously violated international law.
